Personalised nutrition and functional medicine support for your wider health while taking antidepressants, or if you're considering reducing or coming off them.
You may have been taking antidepressants for a few months or for many years. They may have helped you through a difficult period, you may still feel you need them, or you may have reached a point where you're beginning to think about whether you want to continue taking them.
You might also be wondering what else could be influencing your mood, energy, sleep or wider health.
We help you understand your whole health picture, looking at your nutrition, hormones, gut health, sleep, stress and other factors that may be relevant to how you feel, whether you continue taking your medication or are considering reducing it with your prescriber.
Why might I want support while taking antidepressants?
Taking medication doesn't mean there aren't other aspects of your health worth exploring.
Antidepressants can be an important part of mental health treatment, but they don't exist separately from everything else that's happening in your life and your body.
You may be looking for support because:
-
your mood has improved but you still struggle with fatigue, poor sleep or low motivation
-
anxiety or low mood continues despite taking medication
-
your weight, appetite or relationship with food has changed
-
you're experiencing digestive or gut health concerns
-
your hormones are changing during perimenopause or menopause
-
you'd like to understand how nutrition and lifestyle can support your wider health
-
you've been taking antidepressants for a long time and are beginning to think about whether you still need them
-
you've tried reducing your medication before and found it difficult
-
you're considering reducing or stopping your antidepressant and want additional nutritional and lifestyle support alongside your prescriber
There doesn't have to be one reason for wanting to look at your health differently.

Your mood doesn't exist in isolation
How you feel can be influenced by many different aspects of your health and circumstances.
HORMONES & MIDLIFE
Perimenopause and menopause can bring changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, energy and concentration, sometimes at the same time as other changes in health.
NUTRITION & NUTRIENT STATUS
What and how regularly you eat, your overall diet and your nutritional status can all form part of your wider health picture.
GUT HEALTH
Digestive symptoms and gut health can affect how you feel physically and may be relevant when we're looking at your health as a whole.
SLEEP
Poor or disrupted sleep can affect mood, anxiety, energy, concentration and your ability to cope with everyday stress.
STRESS & NERVOUS SYSTEM
Long-term stress, difficult life circumstances and your individual response to stress may all influence how you're feeling.
YOUR HISTORY & CIRCUMSTANCES
Your emotional history, relationships, work, family life and previous experiences can be important parts of understanding your mental health too.
Our role isn't to assume which of these applies to you, or to suggest that nutrition can replace medication. It's to understand your individual health picture and identify where additional support may be helpful.

How we can support you
Understand your whole health picture
Your first session gives us time to explore your mood and mental health alongside your health history, medication, nutrition, hormones, digestion, sleep, stress, lifestyle and other factors that may be relevant to how you're feeling.
Create a personalised plan
We'll bring that information together into clear, practical recommendations. Depending on your individual needs, this may include nutrition, lifestyle, supplements and functional testing where appropriate.
Work together over time
Most clients work with us over three months, giving us time to review how you're getting on, discuss what's changing and adapt your recommendations as we learn more about you. Longer-term support is available where needed.
Thinking about reducing or coming off antidepressants?
If you're considering reducing your antidepressant, it's important that you do this with the healthcare professional responsible for prescribing your medication.
We don't prescribe antidepressants, change medication doses or create medication tapering schedules. Our role is to provide nutrition and functional medicine support alongside your medically supervised taper, helping you understand and support your wider health throughout the process.
For women who would like more structured support, Nicola's six-month Beyond the Low Mood programme has been created specifically to support you as you reduce or come off antidepressants.
We'll explore your nutrition, hormones, gut health, sleep, stress, lifestyle and individual health history, using functional testing where appropriate, and build personalised support around your needs.
Beyond the Low Mood works alongside medically supervised antidepressant tapering and does not replace the care of your GP, psychiatrist or prescriber.
