Personalised support for Obesity &
Food relationships
Struggles with weight, food and eating are rarely about willpower or food choices alone—they reflect how your nervous system, emotions, hormones and digestion are working together. At Urban Wellness, we offer compassionate, root-cause support for food relationships and weight concerns, with particular focus on the emotional, hormonal and nervous system factors driving your eating patterns, so you can feel at peace with food and your body again.
What can struggling with food and weight feel like?
For many people, food struggles have been present for years—sometimes blamed on lack of willpower, sometimes dismissed as "just eat less and exercise more," sometimes tied to yo-yo dieting and constant weight cycling. Others notice emotional eating intensifies during stressful periods or alongside anxiety and low mood, without realising how deeply connected these are. For midlife women, hormonal shifts during perimenopause and menopause can amplify cravings, change metabolism, and make emotional eating feel even more challenging. Or perhaps you've tried endless diets and restrictions, only to feel more disconnected from your body and its signals, trapped in a cycle of restriction and loss of control. Many have spent years fighting their relationship with food, using it to soothe stress and emotions, without understanding the underlying triggers. Either way, you do not have to manage this by yourself.

How can functional nutrition help with food and weight?
At Urban Wellness, we look beyond calorie counting and dieting to understand what is driving your emotional eating and weight challenges—and how your nervous system, hormones, gut health and unresolved stress are fuelling the cycle. Using a functional medicine approach, we explore:
-
Emotional eating triggers: stress, anxiety, boredom, loneliness or trauma and how they connect to eating patterns
-
Nervous system dysregulation and the fight-or-flight state affecting appetite, digestion and food choices
-
Interoception: your ability to recognise hunger, fullness and internal body signals
-
Reward pathways and how the brain processes food pleasure and satisfaction
-
HPA axis (stress hormone) function and cortisol's role in cravings and weight storage
-
Hormonal balance, including estrogen, progesterone, thyroid and insulin
-
Blood sugar dysregulation and how glucose imbalances drive cravings and emotional eating
-
Gut health and microbiome: how digestive balance affects mood, cravings and metabolism
-
Nutrient deficiencies (magnesium, B vitamins, chromium, vitamin D) fuelling cravings
-
Food sensitivities or inflammatory responses affecting mood and eating patterns
-
The impact of diet restriction, food rules and yo-yo dieting on your relationship with food
-
Your personal food history and how past dieting or trauma around food has shaped your current patterns
With this deeper picture, we create a holistic, science-backed plan to help:
-
Resolve emotional eating by addressing the underlying stress and nervous system dysregulation
-
Restore your body's natural hunger and fullness signals
-
Rebuild a peaceful, intuitive relationship with food free from shame and rigid rules
-
Stabilise blood sugar and reduce cravings

How we can support you, your weight and your relationship with food
Start with a free call
Book a free, no-pressure discovery call to talk through your food struggles, your eating patterns, your story so far and what you're hoping will change. This is a space to feel heard—without judgment or diet talk—and to explore whether our Eating Behaviour Package is the right fit for you.
01
Your first session: Understanding your food story
Your first session is about truly listening to your complete picture—not just what you eat, but why. Together, we explore your eating history, emotional triggers, stress levels, body signals (hunger and fullness), food rules and beliefs, your relationship with dieting and restriction, hormonal health, sleep and mood, digestive symptoms, nutrient status, medications, and your personal story with food and your body. We help you see the patterns and connections you may have missed. This whole-person understanding guides what needs to shift first.
02
Create your food peace roadmap
Within 48 hours, you receive a practical, realistic programme tailored to your life, including nervous system regulation techniques for emotional eating, intuitive eating and body signal work, targeted nutrition and supplementation (where appropriate), hormonal and gut health support, stress management tools, and sustainable approaches to food that honour both your body and your life. If useful, we may also discuss functional testing such as micronutrient analysis, gut microbiome assessment or hormonal evaluation to add more clarity. Your plan evolves as your relationship with food and your circumstances change.
03
Ongoing Partnership & Healing
You are not left to figure this out alone or to white-knuckle through another diet. We offer flexible support tailored to your needs—whether that's weekly sessions for intensive healing work or biweekly sessions as you build confidence and momentum. Follow-up sessions provide accountability, space to process emotional patterns around food, celebrate progress, adjust strategies for real life, and gently troubleshoot when triggers arise or stress intensifies. Care is collaborative, compassionate and grounded in the belief that food peace comes from addressing root causes, not willpower—recognising that healing your relationship with food and your body takes time, support and genuine self-compassion, not perfection.
