Functional medicine looks beyond symptoms to understand why your body is struggling in the first place. Instead of applying a one-size-fits-all approach, we explore the interplay between your hormones, gut health, nervous system, lifestyle, and life experiences to uncover what is driving your symptoms.
At Urban Wellness, we offer personalised programmes designed around you, not just your diagnosis. We provide expert, evidence-informed guidance to support meaningful, lasting change. We have particular expertise in complex mental health presentations, including anxiety, low mood, eating disorders, and antidepressant withdrawal, and we regularly work alongside GPs, psychiatrists, and therapists to ensure your care is fully integrated and supported.

What is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine focuses on exploring the underlying factors that may be contributing to your mental or brain health concerns, rather than looking at symptoms in isolation. It takes a personalised approach, recognising that your biology, lifestyle, and experiences all shape your health, and uses this insight to guide tailored recommendations that are realistic and sustainable for you.
Medication can play an important and sometimes essential role in mental health care. Alongside this, functional medicine aims to build a broader understanding of your health, helping to identify and support factors that may be influencing how you feel, so that care is more comprehensive and joined-up.
Condition we support
Our approach
At Urban Wellness, our approach is highly personalised. We take the time to understand your full health story, including your current symptoms, diet and lifestyle, as well as your medical and family history. This creates a strong foundation for the work we do together and helps us identify which areas may need further exploration, including whether functional testing could add useful insight.
Where appropriate, testing may include:
Comprehensive blood testing
Nutritional status and micronutrient analysis
Stool testing and/or SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) testing
Hormone assessments
Genetic insights
Your practitioner will then develop a tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan designed to support your individual needs and goals. We also work closely with you to help you put these recommendations into practice, offering ongoing guidance and adjustments to support steady, sustainable progress in both your mental and physical wellbeing.

How to get started
Step 1: Book a Clarity Call
Choose your practitioner and book a 30-minute paid Clarity Call via our booking page. You’ll be asked to complete a short form in advance so we can make the most of your time together. This call gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share what’s been going on for you, and explore whether our approach feels like the right fit. If you decide to go ahead, the cost of your Clarity Call is redeemable against any programme booked within 14 days.
Step 2: Your initial consultation
If you choose to proceed, we’ll book you into a 90-minute initial consultation. This is a comprehensive session where we take a detailed look at your health history, current symptoms, and wider lifestyle factors to begin shaping your personalised programme.
Step 3: Ongoing support
You’ll then continue with regular follow-up sessions, typically weekly or fortnightly depending on your programme and needs. These sessions allow us to review your progress, make adjustments, and support you step-by-step as your plan evolves.
Every client journey is different, and the structure and duration of your programme will reflect your individual needs and goals. Our focus is on creating a thoughtful, personalised approach that supports meaningful and sustainable change over time.
