Personalised support for Sleep & Insomnia
Poor sleep rarely stays "just" in the bedroom—it affects your energy, mood, focus and how safe and resilient you feel in daily life. At Urban Wellness, we offer compassionate, root-cause support for sleep and insomnia concerns, with particular focus on the two-way relationship between your sleep and your nervous system, so you can feel calmer, more rested and more like yourself again.
What does poor sleep and insomnia in midlife feel like?
For many people, sleep problems have been present for years, sometimes attributed to menopause or aging, sometimes dismissed as "just stress" or "your new normal." Others notice sleep worsens during stressful seasons or alongside anxiety or low mood, without realising how deeply connected these are. Or perhaps you've tried countless sleep hygiene rules, supplements and strategies, but now feel trapped by rigid bedtime routines and anxious about sleep itself. Many carry the weight of daytime stress, worry and emotional burden directly into the night, finding it impossible to truly switch off. Either way, you do not have to manage this by yourself.

How can functional nutrition and nervous system support help my sleep?
At Urban Wellness, we look beyond sleep medication or quick fixes to understand what is driving your insomnia—and how your daytime stress and nervous system are feeding into it. Using a functional medicine approach, we explore:
-
Your nervous system function and stress response patterns throughout the day
-
How emotional stress, worry and burnout are carried into the night
-
Cortisol rhythm and HPA axis (stress hormone) dysregulation
-
Hormonal balance, including estrogen, progesterone and melatonin patterns
-
Neurotransmitter balance (serotonin, GABA, glutamate) and their role in sleep regulation
-
Micronutrient status (magnesium, B vitamins, zinc) critical for sleep and mood
-
Blood sugar balance and evening eating patterns affecting sleep quality
-
The gut-brain axis and how digestive health influences sleep
-
The impact of daytime stress, burnout, trauma and unresolved emotion on nighttime arousal
With this deeper picture, we create a holistic, science-backed plan to help:
-
Shift your nervous system from daytime hyperarousal to genuine evening calm
-
Resolve the emotional weight and stress you carry into bedtime
-
Support healthy cortisol rhythm and hormonal balance
-
Reduce racing thoughts, worry and mental restlessness
-
Improve sleep quality, duration and restorative depth
-
Wake feeling genuinely refreshed and more emotionally resilient
-
Build confidence in your body's ability to rest and recover
-
Feel less anxious about sleep itself and more in control

How we can support you and your sleep & nervous system health
Start with connection
Book a free, no-pressure discovery call to talk through your sleep and stress patterns, your story so far and what you are hoping will change. This is a space to feel heard and to explore whether our Mood & Nervous System Package is the right fit for you.
01
Comprehensive Assessment
Your first session goes far beyond asking about your bedtime routine. Together, we explore your sleep history, daytime stress levels, emotional patterns, hormonal health, nutritional status, nervous system function, medications, any testing you've had, and life context—so we can understand how your stress response and nervous system have been working throughout your day and night. This whole-person view guides what to focus on first.
02
A Personal plan
Within 48 hours, you receive a practical, step-by-step programme tailored to your body and your life, including nervous system regulation tools, targeted nutrition and supplementation (where appropriate), stress and emotion-processing support, hormonal balance strategies, and lifestyle shifts that are realistic for you. If useful, we may also discuss functional testing such as cortisol rhythm assessment or micronutrient analysis to add more clarity. Your plan evolves over time as your sleep and circumstances change.
03
Ongoing Support
You are not left to figure things out alone. Follow-up sessions provide accountability, space to review progress, adjust strategies and gently troubleshoot flare-ups or stressful periods. Care is collaborative, compassionate and grounded in your real-world routines, recognising that both your sleep and your emotional wellbeing need ongoing support, not perfection.
